Weddings are in full force and the country is abuzz with colourful mehndis and dholkis. This is the time when even those who don't really listen to Indian music, get familiar with the latest beats. Instep takes a look at what some of our designers are listening to and which tunes they will be bopping to this shaadi season.
Shahbaz Aslam
"These days, I'm busy preparing dance routines as my friend's wedding is coming up. I'm dancing to a Kishore Kumar song, 'Dekha Na Hai Re'. Then there is 'Jee Karda'. I like these songs because one can make various steps to the beat. 'Dekha Na Hai Re' is an old song while 'Jee Karda' is the new wedding track and both are lively and full of expression. You can also wear nice costumes while dancing to these two tunes."
'Jee Karda' is one of the many catchy songs featured on the soundtrack of last year's blockbuster Singh Is Kinng while 'Dekha Na Hai Re' is another gem from Kishore Kumar, with Amitabh Bachchan lip syncing to the tune in a bus. This foot tapping number is from the hit film Bombay To Goa showcasing Amitabh and his fellow passengers dancing. And that makes us wonder which costume would suit Shahbaz Aslam best- Amitabh's 70s style bell-bottoms or Akshay Kumar's Singh is Kinng turban (or maybe a blend of both!)
