Shahbaz Aslam launches his outlet in Lahore today
If you've ever wondered who is behind Atif Aslam's rather offbeat styling - it's his brother Shahbaz Aslam, who's designed more than 800 outfits for Atif since the star took off. And now Shahbaz is taking his brand of design forward by launching an outlet in Lahore today. Shahbaz Aslam spoke to Instep Today about the launch and his line saying, "I started doing this five years ago and now people including Atif pushed me to do start this up on a commercial scale. I am a very optimistic person - I take inspiration from the characters of people I meet and from the characteristics of life".
Shahbaz further added that he was also further inspired to go ahead on a bigger scale after he got positive responses from people, as well as the fact that when MTV asked him to design something for Atif, he pushed a concept for Shah Rukh Khan as well, which got approved and so he ended up designing a jacket for SRK for Om Shanti Om. When asked if the line would be inspired by Atif's different looks over the years, Shahbaz said that he plans to launch different lines - including "funky shalwar kameez" - under different names in the future. Shahbaz's line features everything from menswear casuals and formals to womenswear, even bridals, with a price point that he says will appeal to everyone, including kurtas priced at 2500 rupees. His main focus will be on the custom fit of the menswear line, which as he says is his USP.
According to Shahbaz, "We travel a lot outside of Pakistan and see what different people are wearing. And you can always tell Indians apart from their look, but Pakistani men don't have that distinctive look yet, even though Pakistani women do. That's something I want to work on."
So if you've ever been inspired to wear something Atif Aslam has – you now can have a piece of it yourself!
– Shahbaz Aslam's outlet is located at Shop#1, Mini Market, Regency Plaza Gulberg II, Lahore.
