Pakistani pop star Atif Aslam yesterday said he wanted his young compatriots to connect spiritually through his music.
Aslam said he wanted to mould the youth and was waiting for the right time to do it. The pop singer was talking after a performance at a festival that enthralled the audience so much it went berserk. “Young people enjoy as long as a singer is singing for them with pretty girls in videos. I want to render rich Punjabi Sufi poetry and to connect them spiritually through my music because our young generation is unaware of Sufi poetry,” he said. He said music could be a proper way to promote spiritualism, but it was not the only way.
